Tina Steele Penn is a teaching artist residing in Charlotte North Carolina, Tina enjoys both visual and expressive art forms.

Tina began her music instruction at age 8 on violin, in children's choirs, and oboe at 12. She continued on both instruments till a Junior in High School when she began focusing on her voice performance. Achieving highest marks on the state level in solo competitions, she continued her study as a voice major in college.  Busy with life and raising her children, Tina found that she was happiest as an artist communicating in both the visual and performing art arenas.

Tina was first influenced in the visual art environment of her childhood home by her mother, Bessie Steele, herself an artist. Encourage to paint withoils in grade school, Tina has extensive experience in all mediums. Tina studied art as her minor in college in Tampa Florida while a voice major.

Painting primarily with oils, she began working with watercolors and washes about fifteen years ago, and has been using acrylics more recently. Enjoying the benefits of layers and effects achieved in the combination of media, she is currently exploring mixed media: watercolor, acrylics, oils, inks and metallics. Tina has been studying art fundamentals, style and technique since childhood. Heavily influenced by color, she has developed her own style and flavor, largely Impresionistic and bordering on the Abstract. All of her work is characterized by the exploration of complements and light.Tina strongly believes that everyone has an artistic ability within them -- that our challenge is to reveal the inner artist.

You may view Tina's art work in her studio at the Peddler's Post at 2320 N.
